Hardware Sales – Fury X for $570, 144Hz ROG Display for $400, GTX 950 $120

After a few weeks of mostly mediocre sales, it seems as if retailers have returned to their usual inventory dump. I'd say it's for the end-of-year bookkeeping, but we all know that sales are nonstop. Not sure if they still count as 'sales' in that fashion, but might as well play the game that we're all in. This weekend, we spotted an R9 Fury X for $570 (marked down from $650), a 144Hz ROG display for $400, and GTX 950 at an impressive $120.
PowerColor R9 Fury X ($570): “Made” by PowerColor, whose 380X we just reviewed, this R9 Fury X is marked down from its $650 MSRP. The scare quotes, in this case, are because AMD mandates the same design for all Fury X cards. There is no spec difference between AIBs. For a flagship card, sub-$600 is a good price.
ASUS ROG MG278Q Display ($400): A considerable knock-down in its $600 price, the ASUS ROG MG278Q is a 27” display at 144Hz, running a 1ms GTG response time. This is one of the best gamign monitors on the market right now, especially at the price, and supports adaptive sync technology for AMD users. Even for those running nVidia, there's no denying that the display is a solid 'face' for any PC with its 2560x1440 resolution.
MSI GTX 950 2GB ($120): The $130 price is already significantly better than the “boring” (to quote our review) $160 launch price, but a $10 MIR brings the GTX 950 down to $120. The 950 smashes the GTX 750 Ti (Maxwell v.1) and is an easy upgrade for entry-level systems.
That's it for now. CES is coming up fast, so be sure to check the site from 1/5 to 1/10 for live event coverage.
