Gaming Hardware Sales: GTX 970, Z97 Board, 750W PSU, 27" Display
Posted on September 20, 2015
We've got a solid mix of components this week--a motherboard, PSU, monitor, and a GPU. I've been upgrading my own PC, and I spotted a few deals on Newegg that made me wish I had a bigger budget.
GIGABYTE GA-Z97X LGA 1150 ATX Motherboard ($115 w/promo code): The Gaming 5 is already 17% off, and promo code EMCAXKW28 brings it down another 15%. GN Steve's been using one in a test bench and has been pretty pleased with it--I'd have bought one too, if the sale hadn't started a day after I chose a different model. Oh well. The Gaming 5 won't work with the new Skylake CPUs, but users who are opting for Devil's Canyon processors would do well to consider the Z97X for overclocking uses.
Corsair RM750 ATX12V 80 Plus Gold Full Modular PSU ($93 after rebate): Promo code EMCAXKW23 gives 10% off of a wide range of Corsair PSUs, but the RM750 is already on sale for 20% off, making this an excellent deal on an 80 Plus Gold PSU from a trusted brand.
Acer 27" 1440p Monitor ($250 after rebate): It's hard to argue with $200 off (ending 9/23), especially with an additional $50 rebate--as always, though, check carefully for dead pixels on the display. If price isn't an issue, check out our 2015 round-up of 1440p gaming monitors as well.
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 ($320 after rebate): nVidia's GTX 970 is a respectable GPU, and $320 is a pretty good value for 4GB of GDDR5 memory and a core clock of 1178MHz. There's a heavy-duty Windforce three-fan heatsink installed as well to help reach the boost speed of 1329 MHz.
Check back throughout the week for some portables news, new videos, and a couple of feature posts.
