Hardware Sales – 8GB DDR3-1600 $40, 2TB SSD $650, UltraSharp Display
Posted on August 23, 2015
PAX nears. Next weekend, we'll likely skip our usual sales round-up post in favor of the onslaught of on-the-floor coverage we'll be publishing. For this weekend, then, we've found some good sales: A 2TB SSD, 24” UltraSharp display, and 8GB of cheap DDR3-1600 memory.
Samsung 850 EVO 2TB SSD ($650): Listed at $750, using promo code “EMCAMN22” at checkout brings Samsung's 2TB VNAND SSD down to $650. Still a hefty price, but for 2TB of solid-state storage, that's an impressive price dip from the old days of solid-state. The 850 EVO doesn't offer the same production-level protections and endurance as, say, an 850 Pro, but works as fast, archival storage.
Dell UltraSharp U2414H Screen ($237): Via Amazon, Dell's high-end UltraSharp displays are presently available in 24” size at $237. The UltraSharp displays are leading sellers in the monitor market, known primarily for their base build quality, viewing angles, and superb color depth and quality.
Crucial 2x4GB DDR3-1600 ($40): For those running a dGPU and budget system with little concern for color matching, Crucial's Ballistix memory makes for an affordable option. The green PCB and black heatsink aren't aesthetically impressive, but at $40, there's not much to complain about. 1600MHz is plenty for gaming systems with dGPUs.
Keep eyes on the site as we march into PAX weekend.
