Hardware Sales – 480GB SSD for $200, 27” IPS Monitor, 970M Gaming Laptop
Posted on June 5, 2015
This weekend's gaming hardware sales round-up sees the inclusion of a 480GB SSD marked down to $200, a 27” IPS panel monitor on sale for $170, and a GTX 970M portable gaming laptop for $1450.
480GB SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD ($200): At less than $0.50/GB, SanDisk's Extreme Pro SSD – using the Marvell 88SS9187 controller – is an easy buy for a high-capacity gaming SSD. The drive does well to serve as a primary storage device, but offers enough room to install a couple of games and important core applications.
27” IPS Monitor ($170): Use code “EMCATAN43” at checkout for an instant $30 discount on this display. LG's 27MP33HQ monitor employs an IPS panel for a significant clarity boost over TN (read about the differences here), runs on a gaming-acceptable 5ms latency, and is available for $170 right now. Note that ultra-competitive gamers would benefit from purchasing a faster display instead, but those who prefer color quality to a 4ms speed boost should consider the LG option.
Gigabyte P37W-CF2 Gaming Laptop ($1450): This notebook reminds us of the ultra-thin Origin unit we just reviewed, boasting a 970M and 4720HQ CPU in a small 0.89” form factor. For high-performance gaming without portability sacrifice, Gigabyte's P37W-CF2 notebook offers a comfortable middle-ground with relatively powerful internals.
