Weekend Hardware Sales - $30 500W PSU, $35 Gaming Case, $100 GTX 750 Ti
Posted on December 20, 2014
With Christmas only days away, many of us still haven't finished our shopping. No need to brave the cold to rush out into the crowds, though – we've got you covered. This week we found a case, a power supply, and three video cards that are on sale. If you're looking for a gift for someone else – or just want to treat yourself – check out the deals we found below.
EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W PSU ($30): Here we found a very modestly priced power supply from EVGA. This one is 80 Plus Silver certified and offers 500W of power, plenty for most builds. This would be great in most HTPC builds, but it is not modular so you'll have to tuck away the cables you don't use.
Zalman Z11 Case ($35): Zalman has a great sale going on with their Z11 case: only $35 for a quality, budget gaming case. You can fit an ATX or mATX motherboard into it, up to 7 cooling fans, and a total of 9 drive bays with seven expansion slots. With plenty of bays, slots, and fans, this would be a great budget gaming case.
MSI GTX 750Ti ($100): For those of you who play LoL, DOTA 2, CSGO, and even Far Cry 4 (on low settings), this would be a great entry video card. With a 1059MHz Core Clock (1137MHz boost clock) and 2GB of GDDR5 memory on a 128-bit interface, this GPU is a great entry-level gaming or HTPC solution (emboldened by a low TDP and no power cable requirement).
Sapphire Dual-X R9 270 ($145): If you desire a bit more out of your graphics card, this Sapphire Dual-X R9 270 is a great budget option with mid-range performance. With a 920MHz Core Clock (945MHz boost clock) and 2GB of GDDR5 memory on a 256-bit interface – and 1280 Stream Processors – the R9 270 was once a mid-range solution that is now available at a budget-class price.
MSI Radeon R9 290 ($260): If you're looking for an inexpensive video card that can comfortably play most games out at high (or max) settings, this would be an affordable option. The R9 290 from MSI has a 947MHz Core Clock (977MHz gaming and 1007MHz OC modes) and an ample 4GB of GDDR5 memory on a 512-bit interface (and 2560 Stream Processors), so this GPU will play most games at ultra settings, newer games like Far Cry 4 would play on high settings comfortably.
Well, that's all for this week. Keep in mind these deals are timely given the season, so buy them while they last. There are many more deals out there to find, so until next time.
