This past weekend's deals feature a Radeon R9 280X at $268, a modular 850W PSU for $90, 1TB HDD for $55, and 8GB of high-end RAM for $95. If these discounts don't fill the void in your soul, then keep posted to our Twitter and Facebook feeds, and check out our most recent YouTube post for a review of the HyperX Fury series RAM, as its big brothers are featured as our pick of the week.
ASUS Radeon R9 280X ($268): Checkout code “JULYHRS2” adds to the instant savings and rebate, bringing the final price to only $268. The ASUS R9 280X comes with a boost clock of 1070MHz and 3GB VRAM, plenty for even the most ambitious of modern games. At 1080p, most games should be able to hit high-ultra with no problems whatsoever. ASUS pushes for more effective cooling with quieter fans to make gaming performance a better experience, as the reference cards had somewhat of a reputation for being noisy. With the discounts offered, this brings the card into range of the GTX 760, which makes this R9 280X a no brainer purchase. This card will also be able to take advantage of the Fallout New Vegas 2014 overhaul that we just wrote up.
Antec HCG 850W 80+ Bronze ($90): We are big believers that the PSU is one area to not skimp. That's not to say you shouldn't grab a good deal when you can, though. The Antec HCG (high-current gamer) comes with a 135mm LED fan for cooling, modular cables for easy cable management, and 850W to provide more than enough power to CrossFire or SLI dual cards and still have room for overclocking. An instant $25 off and $35 rebate card drops the price to only 2/3 of the normal price.
Seagate Barracuda 1TB ($55): Our most recent $393 Cheap Bastard's Build featured this drive. Seagate's Barracuda 1TB HDD holds enough space for almost all normal storage needs and comes with a comfortable $15 instant savings, rotating in at 7200 RPM for gaming and primary purposes. Whether you're looking to increase storage or build a new system, this value HDD should definitely be considered to fill your storage needs.
Pick of the Week
HyperX Predator Series 8GB 2666MHz ($95): This high-end enthusiast RAM comes with a native frequency of 2666MHz and CAS latency of 11. This improved frequency should aid in every task that is done, though it won't have a huge visible impact on most games. One of the main disadvantages is a very tall heat spreader that may run into some space restrictions with certain CPU coolers or extremely tight builds. The HyperX Predator currently is $13 off. If more memory is needed for streaming/rendering builds, the HyperX Beast 16GB 2133MHz RAM is an amazing $44 off right now.
