To celebrate Father’s Day, we strongly recommend you build a computer -- though that tends to be my recommendation for everything, including the celebration of a full moon on Friday the 13th (next one isn’t until 2049). This weekend's sales round-up features a 450W PSU for $40, 8GB of 2400MHz RAM for $75, a vapor chamber CPU cooler at $75, and a GTX 780 Ti for $600. Continue to watch our twitter and facebook feeds for more deals throughout the week, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for helpful tips.
CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ($40): If you are designing an HTPC or low-TPD machine, then this deal is a must. This 450W PSU is fully-modular, vital for tight cases, and rated as 80 Plus Gold efficiency. The savings gained on this PSU are excellent for the $40 cost you get after a $20 instant savings and $30 rebated card.
G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 8GB ($75): A $10 instant savings bring this native high-frequency, low-latency RAM to only $75. For builds needing a bit more RAM, like for playing Total War or streaming gameplay, this should meet the need perfectly. The basic black design and very small blue label should allow it to work with any build without affecting the color scheme.
Cooler Master V8 GTS ($75): For the builder wanting a unique look, this CPU cooler has 2 fans sandwiched between 3 sets of aluminum fins to ventilate heat from the 8 pipes drawing heat from the CPU. The speed can be controlled for the fans to decrease noise. In addition to the unique look and solid cooling performance, the fans also come with red LEDs -- and we all know that red LEDs make a computer faster. There is an instant savings of $10 and a $15 rebate card, dropping the total down to $75. A less expensive and smaller CPU cooler, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus is also on sale with a final price to $20 after rebate card.
Pick of the Week
MSI GTX 780Ti ($600): This is quite possibly the best-performing card on the market at the moment for most games. It topped the list for our Watch Dogs benchmark and consistently is at the top for most other games as well. Newegg currently has this as a hidden special (price can’t be viewed until in cart as they can’t advertise it at this price) and a $30 rebate card, dropping the price $110 down from where it normally rests to hit $600 even. At this time, I don’t know of any games this can’t play on ultra-maxed-out-hyper-mega settings with this card.
